perils of facebook

distances of geography, time, experience and emotion that would not have been brooked by any natural event and even less likely a confluence of all four yet here (or more accurately -- there) we are on Facebook...

You have a song that reminds you of me but I cannot even answer, this is not a memory of yours I want to explore and I got rid of almost everything that reminded me of you decades ago. It was actually another who has my heart with whom I learned not to try to rewrite history, to leave things as they were.

"to negotiate the line between poignant and voyeuristic"...despite the few number of posts here, there is a very long (and not expressed) thought about how we not so successfully balance what we can do and what we should do.

"I believe that human nature is neither intrinsically good nor intrinsically evil, but individuals are born with different combinations of innate potentialities, and that it will depend upon how they are reared — to trust and love and experiment and create, or to fear and hate and conform — what kind of human beings they will become. I believe that we have not even begun to tap human potentialities, and that by continuing humble but persistent study of human behavior, we can learn consciously to create civilizations within which an increasing proportion of human beings will realize more of what they have it in them to be."
